THE 2nd ANNUAL FLY FISHING WEEK, GREAT BEAR LAKE LODGE
August 16 to 23, 2008
|
A week of fly fishing Arctic waters! There is no mistaking that fly fishing is growing in popularity throughout the sport fishing industry. The added challenge of catching a fish on a fly rod means a greater reward to the angler. Moreover, many of the fish that fisherman target feed on insects and other prey items that artificial flies imitate, making fly fishing often a more effective way to capture these fish. The increase in popularity of fly fishing has been seen at Plummer's over the past several years as anglers are tackling big lake trout, char, pike and grayling on fly tackle. With more and more people looking for fly fishing opportunities it is with great enthusiasm that we will be offering the 1st Annual Fly Fishing Week at Plummer's Great Bear Lake Lodge from August 19th to 26th, 2006. Our goal with this week is to get as many fly fishers together as we can and offer not only world class fishing but also world class seminars and instruction. To assist with the seminars, we will have leading fly fishing authorities on hand to give evening presentations as well as on-the-water instruction. We are currently talking to several popular fly fishing writers and we can tell you that you will not be disappointed. The evening seminars will cover topics from tackle and tactics to fly tying. The fly fishing week will not only be a gathering of like-minded individuals, but it will also provide the opportunity to better your skill and understanding of the sport. The week will be broken down into three parts: 1) 2 nights at our outpost camp on the Tree River where anglers will fish for the largest arctic char in the world. 2) 1 day on one of our fly-in grayling rivers where large numbers of 18 -20 inch grayling can be caught on dry flies with light tackle and 3) 3 days on Great Bear Lake where anglers can target huge lake trout, northern pike and grayling. The Tree River trip will be dependent on angler numbers but between 10 and 14 anglers will go at a time and the various stretches of river will be broken up into "beats" with fisherman getting equal opportunity to fish all stretches of the river. The grayling fishing will be run on the basis of a maximum 8 anglers on the river at a time. Lastly, the fishing on Great Bear will be much less formal with anglers having the option to fish for trout, pike and grayling all in the same day if they desire. The reason for picking the week of August 19th to 26th is simple: the lake and river conditions are typically at their finest for fly fishing. If you are a fly fishing enthusiast, you won't want to miss out on this great opportunity! RESERVE YOUR SPACE TODAY! |
